Egypt:Insurance federation says AI presents new professional growth opportunities

| 14 Aug 2025

The Insurers Federation of Egypt (IFE) has said that artificial intelligence should not be viewed as a threat to insurance jobs, but rather, as an opportunity for development and innovation for employees.

In its latest weekly newsletter released on 10 August 2025, the Federation stated that AI is a pivotal tool for improving operational efficiency and enhancing underwriting accuracy, which contributes to providing better services to customers.

Nevertheless, the IFE noted that AI poses numerous challenges, including technological unemployment resulting from the automation of tasks, the widening skills gap between what workers possess and what the market demands, issues of social justice and bias in algorithms, cybersecurity risks and the ethics of using intelligent systems. On the other hand, it offers opportunities to increase productivity and efficiency, create new jobs, improve quality of life and drive innovation and economic growth.

The IFE considers developing human resources to be an important factor for success in the insurance industry. The bulletin said, “Despite advances in technology and digital transformation, the human element remains essential in the insurance world. Human expertise is at the core of operations, whether in understanding customer needs, managing risk, or making complex underwriting decisions. Human interaction builds trust with customers and strengthens relationships, and is essential when managing claims or providing advice.”

Digital transformation strategies

The IFE also emphasised the importance of adopting strategies that prioritise responsible digital transformation, which contributes to creating a work environment that supports employees and opens up new horizons for them. In this context, the Federation seeks to support training and capacity building to ensure the labour market is ready for the demands of the AI era, reflecting its commitment to facilitating a smooth transition to the future.

The Federation stressed that vocational reskilling and upskilling have become a necessity, not an option, calling for the implementation of comprehensive training programmes that enable the workforce to acquire new skills or transform their career paths according to labour market needs, thus maintaining competitiveness in the era of digitisation and AI.

It urged insurance companies to invest in developing human skills to keep pace with digital transformation, particularly data analysis, information security, and smart model management. It also called on companies to adopt fair and responsible digital transformation strategies that ensure a sustainable work environment that doesn't exclude employees but rather supports their capabilities and provides them with new professional growth opportunities.
