Egypt:Call for entries to 3rd "Spreading Precious Ideas" Competition

| 17 Jun 2021

The third edition of the "Spreading Precious Ideas" (SPI) Competition for creative professionals is now open for entries. The deadline for submission of entries is 1 August 2021.

The chairman of the Insurance Federation of Egypt (IFE) and president of the Organising Committee of IFE 3rd Sharm Rendezvous and FAIR 27th Conference, Mr Alaa El Zoheiry, and the secretary-general of the Federation of Afro-Asian Insurers and Reinsurers, Dr Adel Mounir announced the competition.

The annual SPI Competition, in which entrants submit research papers on topical issues, has become one of the main features of the Sharm Rendezvous, and one of the insurance world's most prestigious awards.

Research paper topics

The subject of the research papers to be written for the competition has to be related to one of the SPIs included on the agenda of the IFE 3rd Sharm Rendezvous and FAIR 27th Conference. The SPIs are:

  • SPI-1 : Insurance regulatory & supervisory response, post COVID-19

  • SPI-2 : InsurTech and digitalisation driving the future of the insurance industry

  • SPI-3 : Sustainable insurance and inclusion strategies

  • SPI-4 : Business model challenges: new ways of working

  • SPI-5 : Re-engagement and transformation of the insurance industry.

The SPI Competition has previously been held for two consecutive years in conjunction with the 1st Sharm Rendezvous in 2018 and the 2nd Sharm Rendezvous in 2019.

This year, the organising committee has named the competition in honour of Mrs Azza Arfeen, the former executive director of the IFE to mark the first anniversary of her passing. The success of the 1st and the 2nd Sharm Rendezvous is credited to her efforts. She was also the originator of the idea of the "SPI Educational Competition".

Winners of the competition will be announced on 10 September 2021.

The awards ceremony will be held as part of the closing ceremony and gala dinner of the 3rd Sharm Rendezvous and FAIR 27th Conference. This event is scheduled to be held 19-22 September 2021.

Winners will receive letters by email before the Conference to prepare to attend the awards ceremony. The organising committee of the Sharm Rendezvous offers the winners free registration to the Conference and free accommodation during the Conference.

The winning papers will be published on the Conference website.

The top four winners will be given cash prizes along with certificates of appreciation, with the prize money as follows:

  • 1st SPI Award - $2,500
  • 2nd SPI Award - $2,000
  • 3rd SPI Award - $1,500
  • 4th SPI Award - $1,000

The judges are distinguished local and international figures and the results are independently audited.

A panel of 10 distinguished referees from SPIs 2021 speakers and moderators will review the articles and give a score for each competitor (out of a maximum possible score of 100), and send the final score of the four winners to the presidents of the 3rd Sharm Rendezvous and the FAIR 27th Conference Organising Committee.
