Egypt's long-awaited new insurance law is expected to be adopted this year, according to Dr Muhammad Omran, chairman of the Financial Regulatory Authority (FRA).
Mr Mahmoud Samaha, head of central administration for the supervision of insurance companies at the FRA, said that the Authority is currently discussing the new insurance law in the House of Representatives, according to local media reports.
He said that the new law included sections covering takaful, microinsurance, specialised medical insurance companies and healthcare management companies.
He said that the new law also provides for digital transformation in the insurance sector.
