The number of new registrations of vehicles last year jumped by 54.8% in 2020 to 1.039m, according to data from Turkish Statistical Institute (Turkstat).
The number of vehicles deleted from traffic records last year was 48,328, a plunge of 87% compared to end-2019. Thus, there was a net increase of 990,577 in the total number of vehicle registrations in 2020.
At the end of last year, the total number of vehicles plying the roads of Turkey stood at 24.144m. Of this total, the various categories of vehicles were:
