Egypt:Regulator to set up electronic platform for auto agencies and workshops

| 28 Sep 2020

The Financial Regulatory Authority (FRA) has decided to establish a digital platform that includes all auto maintenance workshops and agencies and vehicle inspection experts, according to Mr Ibrahim Labib, head of the compulsory auto insurance group and head of the motor committee of the Insurance Federation of Egypt.

Mr Labib told Youm7 that the platform will be very useful, especially since all payments for repairs at car maintenance workshops and agencies will be made by insurers digitally. The motor committee has previously studied the technical standards required of the workshops.

Instead of linking insurance companies with a specific workshop, the platform links insurers to repair shops according to what has been agreed upon in terms of specifications such as quality and experience, availability of spare parts and the competence of the repair crew.

According to the FRA, the platform will allow customers to record their assessments of the repair and maintenance work performed by auto workshops and agencies, and the measure would help maintain quality and transparency.
