Beema Insurance, part of Emirates National Oil Company (ENOC) Group, said it plans to support the people of the UAE to save money and provide financial relief by providing 'one month of car insurance for free' to anyone buying a car insurance policy online before 30 April using the code 'TOGETHER' on its website.
The insurer said the offer can be extended upon its discretion if the social distancing with severe measures is still applicable. The one-month deduction of the premiums can only be availed if the amount does not fall below the minimum set by the Insurance Authority, Beema said. However, this promotion is not applicable to third-party insurance.
This decision is in line with the firm’s continued efforts to support the social distancing practices that has been urged by the authorities in the UAE. Current social distancing measures have led to many people seeking ways to renew their car insurance online as part of renewing their car registration online as they stay in self-quarantine.
Commenting on the move, ENOC group CEO Saif Humaid Al Falasi said Beema felt it was the firm’s duty to support the fight against COVID-19 and help people at this difficult time. “We deeply feel for people affected by the current situation and we are committed in contributing to our community, by making the insurance registration easy and by offering financial relief measures.”
The UAE government has implemented a series of initiatives to limit the spread of COVID-19, including enhanced screening and quarantine measures, distance learning, remote work protocols and an ongoing national sterilisation programme.
On 23 March, the Ministry of Interior and National Emergency and the Crisis and Disasters Management Authority enabled car registration online and waived testing requirements for three months, to enable social distancing and protect customers from COVID-19.
