More than 700 delegates, including an impressive array of insurance luminaries and thought-leaders from across the world, have already signed up for the forthcoming 25th Conference of the Federation of Afro-Asian Insurance & Reinsurance (FAIR) in Bahrain from 9 to 10 October.
At this year’s FAIR, top honchoes and the who’s who of global insurance will deliver thought-provoking speeches, presentations and deliberations. In addition, leaders of the world’s insurance think tanks -- the International Insurance Society (IIS) and The Geneva Association -- will both present key papers at FAIR.
Mr Michael Morrissey, President and CEO of IIS, will deliver the Keynote Address on “Propelling FAIR Insurance Industry through Innovation”, while Ms Anna Maria D’Hulster, Secretary General & Managing Director, The Geneva Association, will deliver the International Address. In the Special Address, Mr Cameron Murray, Head of UK, Ireland, Middle East & Africa, Lloyd’s, will speak on “Managing the New Risk Landscape”.
The conference agenda includes a high-profile Plenary Session on “Digital Strategy for Insurance - Product Innovation and Practical solutions”, chaired by Mr Ronald Klein, Director Global Ageing, The Geneva Association, with panellists including Mr David M Dror, Chairman and Managing Director, Microinsurance Academy, Mr Francis Bakos, Global Head of Vitality Active, Discovery – South Africa, and Mr Augusto Hidalgo, Chairman of the Philippine Insurers and Reinsurers Association and CEO, National Reinsurance Corporation of the Philippines.
Mr Yassir Albaharna, CEO, Arig, will chair the “CEO Panel on Priority Issues of the Day to Tap FAIR Markets”. Panellists include Mr Peter Englund, Senior Executive Officer, Head of Commercial Insurance, Middle East, Zurich Insurance Company; Mr Youssef Fassi Fihri, CEO, SCR; Mr Bernd Kohn, Chief Executive, Middle East, Africa, Munich Re Germany, Asia Pacific and Africa Division; and Mr Michael Jensen, Managing Director, MENA, AIG.
With the slew of regulatory changes sweeping across the region, the FAIR organising committee has lined up a Plenary Session on “Regulatory Dynamics in FAIR Land”, chaired by Dr Kai-Uwe Schanz, Member of the Board of Directors, Trust Re, together with panellists: Mr Hassan Boubrik, Chairman, Supervisory Authority of Insurance and Social Security (ACAPS) – Morocco, Mr Oscar Verlinden, Advisor – Access to Insurance Initiative (A2ii), and Ms Grace Mohamed, General Manager – Insurance, The Namibia Financial Institutions Supervisory Authority.
As InsurTech is set to redefine the way the insurance industry is shaping and revolutionising business, a Plenary Session will focus on “InsurTech - The revolution in insurance”, chaired by Mr Sivam Subramaniam, Editor-in-Chief, Asia Insurance Review and Middle East Insurance Review, with panellists including Mr Michel Chammas, CEO, BSynchro.
The event, held under the patronage of HRH Prince Khalifa Bin Salman Al Khalifa, The Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Bahrain, will be the first FAIR Conference to take place in the Gulf region. It is jointly organised by the Central Bank of Bahrain (CBB), the Bahrain Insurance Association (BIA), Arab Insurance Group (Arig) and Trust Re, to provide delegates with the opportunity to network with Afro-Asian and international industry professionals and discuss matters of common interest.
