Fenchurch Faris organised a Political Violence (PV) insurance seminar at the Dead Sea in Jordan for the Palestinian Insurance sector and was attended by a select group of Palestinian insurance professionals. Mr Tareq Hussein, ACII of MENA Re presented the underwriting segment, and Mr Mohammed Shakhatreh from International General Insurance (IGI) covered the claims segment of the workshop, focusing on the claims handling and settlement process more broadly seen in the PV market worldwide.
Fenchurch Faris CEO Rafat Faris said, “We chose the subject of this seminar strategically, as we have seen an increase in the demand for PV insurance regionally. All types of political risk used to be associated with companies operating where conflict and currency collapses were a real exposure. But as geopolitics has become more tangled with international commerce, insurers have expanded their offering to cover events such as foreign asset seizure and political violence. So, this predictably stabilises returns for companies operating in vulnerable markets allowing such risks to be quantified, which is the essence of the purpose of our industry. Hence, the role of PV insurance has been solidified as a standard component of international risk management.” M
