Jordan: Insurance premiums register 9% increase in 1H2025

Jordan’s insurance market continued to grow in the first half of this year, supported by a notable increase in life and health insurance business, according to statistics published by the industry regulator.
 
Gross written insurance premiums grew by 9.2% to reach JOD451m ($636m) in the first half of 2025 compared to JOD413m in the corresponding half of the previous year, according to data from the Central Bank of Jordan.
 
Medical insurance premiums in 1H2025 reached JOD163m, up from JOD145m in the first half of 2024, recording a 12.6% increase and commanding 36% of the market’s total GWP, making it the largest branch of business. Life insurance premiums reached JOD79m in 1H2025 compared with JOD70m in 1H2024, a 12.4% increase. It had a market share of 17.5%, making it the third-largest line of business.
 
Motor insurance grew by 8.1% in the first half of the year to reach JOD134m from JOD124m in 1H2024, accounting for almost 30% of the market’s total GWP. M
