The General Confederation of Trade Unions, the National Society for Consumer Protection and the Jordanian Health Insurance Association (HIA) have announced their rejection of the new contract terms between pharmacies and insurance entities.
Among the terms, the Pharmacists’ Syndicate proposes to slash the discount offered by pharmacies to health insurance funds from 6% to 3%.
The HIA, whose membership includes many health insurance funds affiliated with professional unions, banks and major industrial companies, said that it does not agree with the pharmacies, reported Jordanian newspaper Addustour.
The proposed terms and conditions raised by pharmacies constitute a violation of the competition law, said the HIA. It also said that they contradict a requirement of the Pharmacists’ Syndicate, which is that discounts can only be offered based on a prior agreement between the syndicate and the third party. M
