The UAE Insurance Authority (IA) is currently preparing a draft amendment to licensing requirements for health insurance claims management companies, the UAE’s economy minister said in early November.
Mr Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansoori said in his opening address at a health insurance conference in Dubai, delivered on his behalf by the Director General of the IA, Mr Ebrahim Al Zaabi, that the project includes provisions that enhance the performance of such companies in line with international standards.
“The amendment also helps improve the efficiency of these 27 companies in the local market and ensures that they continue to deliver high quality and competitive services,” said Mr Al Mansoori.
The value of written health premiums reached AED17.2 billion (US$4.7 billion) in 2016, representing 43% of the total premiums written in the UAE, which reached AED40 billion. M
