The latest M6 earthquake to strike Christchurch, New Zealand on 13 June is expected to cause an additional US$3 to $5 billion in insured losses to the region, said international catastrophe modelling firm EQECAT. A M5.2 aftershock at a depth of just one kilometre rattled shortly following the initial quake.
