Algeria: GAM brands takaful window as Takafulia Li Taaminat

P&C insurer, Generale Assurance Mediterranéenne (GAM), has launched Takafulia Li Taaminat, a new commercial identity for its takaful window. This development takes place at a time when takaful business is maturing in the insurance market.

Through its new identity, Takafulia Li Taaminat affirms its priorities, which are:

strengthen the digital transformation of takaful services,
develop products tailored to the needs of individuals and businesses,
expand partnerships, particularly with Islamic finance and banking players,
contribute to the development of the takaful insurance market in Algeria.

GAM has been in operation since 2001. In 2021, it became the first entity to receive Ministry of Finance approval to operate a general takaful window. Building on this regulatory first, GAM secured a certificate of compliance from the National Religious Authority for Fatwa and Research in the Islamic Finance Industry in 2022, authorising the marketing of its Shariah-compliant products.
