The Tunisian Unified Automobile Bureau (BUAT) paid out TND4.6m ($1.56m) in compensation to victims of road accidents involving foreign vehicles in Tunisia during the first half of 2025.
A total of 665 compensation claims were submitted to Tunisian insurers in the first six months of 2025 relating to accidents that caused bodily injury and property damage, reported La Presse de Tunisie, citing data from BUAT.
The compensation falls within the scope of the Bureau’s mission related to motor insurance certificates (green and orange cards). The green card is for the international Green Card system used in many countries in Europe, Asia, and North Africa, while the orange card is specifically for the Orange Card system, which covers Arab countries.
The annual insurance compensation paid by BUAT averaged between TND7m and TND8m over the past three years. M
