Saudi Arabia: Health authority to gather data directly wef Jan 2020

Source: Middle East Insurance Review | Dec 2019

The Council of Cooperative Health Insurance (CCHI) has directed accredited health service providers in the kingdom to make monthly submissions of basic medical data of insured patients, with effect from January 2020.

The timely delivery of the required data and commitment to data quality will be taken into account when health service providers seek accreditation or renew accreditation by the CCHI, reported Al Watan quoting a recent circular to health service providers.

The data will help ensure the transparency and competitiveness of the sector, the quality of healthcare services, as well as protect the rights of stakeholders and facilitate and accelerate payments, the CCHI said. Stakeholders include health insurers, health claims management companies, accredited service providers, policyholders and the insured.

The Council will conduct awareness and training workshops to increase awareness and develop the capabilities of service providers to ensure the quality of data. M
