Turkey: Milli Re's reinsurance seminar hosts 22 participants from 13 countries

Milli Re hosted its 13th Reinsurance Seminar, in line with its strategy of expanding into foreign markets, from 8-10 April with a total of 22 participants from Algeria, Belarus, China, Egypt, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Pakistan, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Taiwan, Tunisia and Ukraine. 
 
The seminar started with the opening address by Mr Fikret Utku Özdemir (assistant general manager, Milli Re) who also introduced Milli Re to the participants. 
 
Following the opening address, Mr Ahmet Çelebiler spoke about the philosophy of reinsurance & risk management. 
Ms Aylin Kocatürk’s (Milli Re) presentation touched on the FAIR Non-Life Reinsurance Pool, while Mrs Günes Karakoyunlu (Milli Re) reviewed the Turkish insurance market.
 
In the afternoon session, Mrs Esen Temiz Önal (Milli Re) addressed the topic on how to fix retentions, followed by a presentation by Mr Çetin Alanya on the pricing of proportional treaties. 
 
The second day of the seminar started off with a presentation on pricing of non-proportional treaties by Mrs Esen Temiz Önal (Milli Re), followed by a workshop for delegates.
 
The afternoon session of the second day saw Mr Graham Crane (Willis Re) and Mr Nick Benardout (Patria Re at Lloyd’s) from the London market conducting a ‘reinsurance game’. 
 
On the last day of the seminar, participants visited Istanbul’s old town to check out the Topkapi Palace, Hagia Sophia Museum, Blue Mosque and Grand Bazaar. M
