Africa: Nominations open for African Insurance Awards 2019

Africa Re has announced that it is organising the African Insurance Awards 2019, taking place on 10 June 2019 in Johannesburg, South Africa. Nominations for the awards are now open.
There are four categories of Awards in this year’s edition, and they are:
- Insurance Company of the Year: This category is open to all insurance companies registered in Africa and focusing on performance in the last two years.
- CEO of the Year: This special award is given to the CEO of a company who has made an outstanding contribution over the past 12 months or more, either through the advancement of his/her company or the insurance industry in Africa.
- Innovation of the Year: This prize is awarded to an insurance company for the best use of technology, for launching a breakthrough product / service or a new and innovative distribution channel or method.
The deadline for submission of nominations for these three categories is 18 April 2019.
- InsurTech Breakthrough: This category targets non-insurers that are collaborating with insurers to improve customer service delivery, product development and overall innovation in the insurance value chain. Interested participants in this category should visit www.insurtech.africa-re.com.
Submission of nominations for the InsurTech Breakthrough category is open until 30 April 2019.
Africa Re said it will provide a platform for winners of the InsurTech challenge to meet the insurance industry. Winners will receive cash prizes, plaques and certificates.
Mr Sivam Subramaniam, editor-in-chief of Asia Insurance Review and Middle East Insurance Review, has accepted an invitation from the organisers to be a member of the judging panel. M
