Environmental, social and governance (ESG) factors are coming under increasing scrutiny as investors develop more sophisticated sustainable investment policies. They are increasingly recognising that ESG factors can affect a company’s ability to manage risk and financial performance over the long term. ESG factors are under most scrutiny in Europe and the US, but we expect more focus on this area across all regions, including the Middle East, says Mr Graham Coutts of Fitch Ratings.
