Iran: Insurance e-marketing rules issued

Source: Middle East Insurance Review | Apr 2018

The insurance regulator, the Central Insurance of Iran (CII), has published rules to supervise the operations of online marketers offering insurance services.

According to the rules published by CII on its website, online marketers of insurance products must first obtain all permits, including those issued by the Ministry of Industries and the Ministry of Culture, reported Financial Tribune.

They must publish contents in a way that will allow applicants to view and compare the final prices of insurance products as well as other indicators. Their online platforms must allow customers to opt out of buying insurance policies at any stage before the purchasing process is completed.

In addition, insurers have to safeguard the personal information of their customers and send a draft of all online contracts to CII.

The regulations also stipulate requirements for ensuring transparency, accessibility and ease of understanding the information given to customers by marketers and insurers. M
