Oman: Progress made in developing farm insurance
Source: Middle East Insurance Review | Mar 2017
Farmers in Oman can expect coverage for their crops or stock as a committee chaired by the Capital Market Authority (CMA) is about to finalise a policy for such an insurance scheme.
A committee – made up of representatives from the CMA, the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries and insurers – has been discussing various aspects of agriculture insurance, including a framework and the feasibility of such insurance.
Insurers will be able to design schemes for agricultural, livestock and fishery sectors for the first time in the country, reported the Times of Oman.
