UAE: New health advisory firm launched in Dubai

Source: Middle East Insurance Review | Apr 2016

Mr Robin Ali – previously a consultant to the Dubai Health Authority – has launched Consilient, an advisory services firm with a specific focus on healthcare access and funding models.

The firm will continue the work that Mr Ali and his team have done for Dubai by assisting governments of other developing nations to either design healthcare funding models in support of the universal healthcare (UHC), or to advise on the restructuring of existing models. Consilient will also work on the demand side for healthcare by designing and implementing workplace wellness schemes for employers.

Commenting on the complementary nature of the two services, Mr Ali said: “Consilient’s philosophy is to advise on both the supply and demand side of healthcare funding. The supply side objective is to help governments put in place models of a sustainable nature that will provide access to UHC. The demand side objective is to try and stop people over-utilising the provision by helping them take greater responsibility for improving their health. A key tool for this is workplace wellness.”

The firm’s geographic focus is sub-Saharan Africa and Southeast Asia for the design and redevelopment of healthcare funding models. For workplace wellness, the targets initially are GCC employers. “We are targeting specific countries, specific types of employer and have significant interest from a number of governments, government departments and large regional employers”, said Mr Ali.

Mr Priya Cima will join Mr Ali in the new venture as a Partner.
