Swiss Re Corporate Solutions appoints Head of MENA
Swiss Re Corporate Solutions has appointed Mr Giles Hussey as Head of MENA, based in Dubai. The appointment is subject to approval from the Dubai Financial Services Authority. 
   Mr Hussey joined Swiss Re Corporate Solutions in 2012 from Lancashire Insurance, where he was CEO of Middle East & Asia. Previously, he worked with Marsh as Head of Energy MENA.
   He has 25 years of broad experience, mostly focused on the energy and marine insurance sectors.
 
Bahrain: bnl appoints Acting General Manager 
Bahrain National Life Assurance (bnl), a subsidary of Bahrain National Holding (BNH), has appointed Mrs Sahar Al Ajjawi as Acting General Manager, following the resignation of Mr Robert Grey. 
   Mrs Al Ajjawi was promoted to the role after serving nearly three years with bnl and holding the position of Assistant General Manager. 
   She has worked in medical and life insurance since 1997. Prior to joining bnl, Mrs Al Ajjawi held leadership positions, including Senior Manager, Life & Medical at Al Ahlia Insurance and Deputy Manager Medical at Arig. 
 
Lebanon: ACAL elects Commercial Insurance Chairman as President
Mr Max Zaccar, Chairman of Commercial Insurance, has been named President of the Association of Insurance Companies in Lebanon (ACAL), succeeding Mr Assaad Mirza. 
   Mr Zaccar has been Chairman of the Marine Committee of ACAL since 1978, a member of the Cargo Committee of the International Union of Marine Insurance (IUMI) since 2002, and IUMI Special Envoy to the Middle East since 2009. He was also a past member of the board of Lebanon’s National Establishment for Compulsory Motor Insurance.
 
Saudi Arabia: CCHI appoints Secretary-General
The Cooperative Health Insurance Council (CCHI) has appointed Mr Mohammed Bin Salman Al Hussein as Secretary General.
   Mr Al Hussein previously served as Assistant Secretary General for Administrative and Financial Affairs of the CCHI Secretariat since its inception. He has held a number of leadership positions during his career, including Financial Advisor to the Minister of Health and General Coordinator of the Office of the Delegate Commissioner of King Faisal Specialist Hospital. He has also held the position of Director of the Budget Department of Health Affairs with the National Guard. 
 
UAE: AGCS appoints Dubai CEO
Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty (AGCS) has appointed Mr Willem van Wyk as CEO for Dubai, succeeding Mr Sanjeev Badyal. He will report to Mr Carsten Scheffel, Member of the Board of Management and Chief Regions & Markets Officer. 
   Mr van Wyk has more than 25 years’ insurance experience, starting his career at AGCS as the Head of Market Management Australia in 2008. Before that, he was Head of Business Development for a global broker in Dubai and Regional Manager for an insurer in South Africa. 
 
UAE: Malakut boosts trade credit team with new hire
Malakut Insurance Brokers has appointed Mrs B Swarna Lata as Associate Director of its trade credit team.
   Mrs Lata, who joined Malakut Trade Credit and Political Risk Insurance Team in April, is responsible for handling all key clients as well as developing the portfolio throughout the MENA region for trade credit, political risk, structured credit and surety. 
   Mrs Lata has over 11 years of insurance experience. She began her career as an insurance broker in Dubai and later headed Commercial Underwriting at Euler Hermes for GCC countries. She worked with Euler Hermes GCC for eight years and has extensive knowledge of the trade credit insurance market in the region. 
 
UAE: Watania CEO resigns 
Mr Oussama Kaissi has resigned as CEO of National Takaful Company (Watania) for personal reasons. The resignation will take effect from 13 July in accordance with the terms of his contract. 
   Mr Kaissi was the founding CEO of Watania, helping to lay the foundations for the company in 2010. He also helped establish and lead Abu Dhabi National Takaful from its inception till 2010. Prior to that, he was General Manager of Arig in Bahrain and Managing Director of Arab Lebanese Insurance Group in Lebanon. 
   Mr Kaissi has close to 30 years of experience in the insurance industry.
