Qatar's seven listed insurance companies recorded combined profits after tax of QAR763.38m ($209.78m) for the first half ended 30 June 2025, 5.76% higher than the QAR721.77m posted for the corresponding half in 2024.
The seven insurers are: Qatar Insurance, Doha Insurance, Qatar General Insurance and Reinsurance, Alkhaleej Takaful, Qatar Islamic Insurance, QLM Life and Medical Insurance and Damaan Islamic Insurance -Beema .
The sector's performance was supported by increased profits from Qatar Insurance, which amounted to QAR374.78m in the first half of 2025, compared to profits of QAR356.69m in the corresponding half in 2024, an increase of 5.07%. Qatar Insurance is the biggest insurer in the country in terms of revenue and profits.
Qatar General Insurance and Reinsurance’s profits rose the fastest at 52.83% in the first six months of 2025, reaching QAR74.48m, compared to QAR48.74m in the same period in 2024.
The average growth rate of 5.76% of the seven listed insurers in 1H2025 was slower than the 10.91% year-on-year increase posted in 1Q2025. The first-quarter net profits of these insurers totalled QAR423.8m, compared to QAR382.11m in 1Q2024.
