Saudi Arabia: Cabinet approves health insurance for domestic workers

Source: Middle East Insurance Review | Jun 2023

Saudi Arabia’s Council of Ministers has approved the application of health insurance rules for domestic workers.

The rules will apply if a household employs four or more domestic helpers.

The rules were framed by a committee formed under the chairmanship of the Council of Health Insurance and with the membership of several entities, reported the Saudi Press Agency.

In January 2023, the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development, with the Saudi Central Bank and Najm Insurance Services Company, began to link insurance policies to domestic worker contracts in a non-compulsory experimental manner. M
