Takaful Oman, the sultanate’s pioneer takaful operator, has introduced a new mobile app designed to record the driving pattern of users by monitoring their speed, acceleration, mileage and phone usage while driving, reported Muscat Daily.

Called SafeTakaful, the telematics app promises to enhance customer value significantly and sets a benchmark in the industry for insurers. The app gives drivers the opportunity to monitor their driving style based on the score they receive and take corrective measures to make themselves better drivers with the bigger objective of making the roads in Oman safer.

“SafeTakaful is a new innovative mobile app that is being offered for the first time by any insurer in Oman,” said Takaful Oman CEO Sayyida Dr Rawan Ahmed al Said. “The revolutionary new app allows us to build a safe community on the roads of Oman, in line with the national road safety objectives.”

The app leverages the use of an open IoT platform, said Takaful Oman CFO and general manager OG Ravinshankar, to enhance and analyse mobility of data that helps drivers to keep track of their driving behaviour. The app allows drivers to see the score of their performance and links back to incentives when it comes to buying or renewing a motor policy with Takaful Oman. M
