Egypt: IFE joins the Global Federation of Insurance Associations

Source: Middle East Insurance Review | Dec 2018

As part of its endeavours to develop its standards and strengthen relationships with the regional and international insurance communities, the Insurance Federation of Egypt (IFE) has joined the Global Federation of Insurance Associations (GFIA), making it the third Arab state to join the organisation after Morocco and Tunisia.

Mr Alaa El-Zoheiry, chairman of IFE said this move will help members access the valuable data and research that GFIA offers, as well as opens the door for the discussion of viable solutions for the insurance sector.

Egypt’s insurance federation has joined two working groups at GFIA: the market conduct and financial inclusion groups. GIFA comprises 13 technical and financial working groups that offer various services to its members.

GFIA is a global non-profit organisation that was established in 2012 to represent insurance associations and federations across the world by serving the common interests of its members.

GFIA includes 40 member associations which represent insurers that account for around 87% of total insurance premiums worldwide. Among its members are the EU along with the Australian, British and US federations. M
