Jordan: Govt mulls over forming independent health insurance body
Source: Middle East Insurance Review | Nov 2018
The Jordanian government is considering establishing an independent body to oversee health insurance, in line with the Ministry of Health’s executive plan for the reform of the health sector for the years 2018-2022.
The Higher Health Council, or another body that will be approved later, would become a standalone official body that would be separate from the Ministry of Health, according to local media reports.
The health insurance proposal includes projects and initiatives of about JOD109m ($153.7m), including the restructuring of the current health insurance policies to increase their effectiveness and finding a form to insure employees of new government sectors.
The proportion of insured persons is gradually increasing with the inclusion of new customer groups such as school students. M
