The International Insurance Society (IIS) will open two regional offices in 4Q18 – one in Singapore to expand the organisation’s presence in the Asia-Pacific region, and the other in London to focus on the EMEA region and support the society’s role as secretariat of the Insurance Development Forum, said IIS president & CEO Mike Morrissey at the Global Insurance Forum (GIF) in Berlin in July.
He also announced that Aviva’s executive chairman for Asia Chris Wei has been appointed to lead the society as its next chairman, taking over from Mr Greig Woodring who is stepping down this autumn, having served in the role for the last four years.
“Greg leaves big shoes to fill as he has so skilfully and graciously managed the governance of the IIS and advised and counselled me over the years,” said Mr Morrissey, adding that IIS is fortunate to have secured an able successor in Mr Wei, who is also global chairman for Aviva Digital.
The IIS management team will continue to be led by Mr Morrissey as CEO and Ms Colleen McKenna Tucker as executive director.
The next GIF will be held in Singapore from 16 to 19 June 2019. M
