Etiqa teams up with Malaysia Airlines to provide Islamic travel cover

Etiqa Group has teamed up with Malaysia Airlines and Cover-More to launch MHinsure travel takaful, offering travellers the same benefits of traditional travel insurance products with two additional benefits for Badal Hajj and Ihsarr, which cater for the Islamic pilgrimage.
This is the first takaful travel protection product in Malaysia to be offered by an airline, according to a joint statement by the parties. The airline’s customers will be able to purchase takaful protection when they buy their air ticket. The takaful protection plan is underwritten by Etiqa, a leading general insurance and takaful company in Malaysia, while assistance services are provided by Cover-More, a specialist integrated insurance and medical assistance provider.
Malaysia Airlines’ Group CEO Izham Ismail, said there is high demand for takaful protection products from international travellers.
Etiqa Group CEO Kamaludin Ahmad described the partnership with Malaysia Airlines, which began in 2008, as elevating their joint business to a new level.
He said the partnership would enable Etiqa to further expand its global brand presence by leveraging certain destinations served by Malaysia Airlines or its codeshare partners as well as Cover-More’s global network. M
