Friends Provident International names MEA Chief Marketing Officer
Friends Provident International (FPI) has appointed  as Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) for the Middle East and Africa region. 
 
   Mr Cernik, formerly Head of Global Expatriate Propositions for FPI based in the UK, will be based in FPI’s UAE office in Dubai. He will manage a team of 11 marketing and product specialists, who will look after all aspects of brand, marketing, communications and product for FPI in the region.

Howden appoints regional Head of Financial Risks 
Insurance broker Howden has appointed Mr Mahan Bolourchi to establish its financial risks business in the Middle East. He will be based in Howden’s Dubai office and will introduce trade credit, structured credit, political risk and surety solutions to new and existing clients.
 
   Mr Bolourchi will assume the role of Regional Head of Financial Risks, Middle East in April 2016. He joins Howden from Euler Hermes where he worked for over 15 years, most recently overseeing operations in the Middle East as CEO for GCC.
 
 
Manulife Asset Management hires regional Head of Sales
Manulife Asset Management has hired Mr Othman Domiati as Managing Director and Head of Sales and Relationship Management, Middle East. Operating out of the firm’s London office, Mr Domiati reports to Mr Marco Zanuso, Head of Distribution for Europe ex-UK and the Middle East.
 
   Prior to this, Mr Domiati helped establish Erste Bank of Austria’s Capital Markets business in the Middle East. He previously served in a capital-raising role for ECM Asset Management and for Wells Fargo Asset Management, raising funds from the Middle Eastern region focusing on sovereign wealth funds, government institutions and central banks. 
Mr Domiati, a native of Beirut, previously held various positions with Merrill Lynch, Abn Amro BANK, and UBS in London. 
 
 
Bahrain: BIBF appoints Head of Insurance Centre
The Bahrain Institute of Banking & Finance (BIBF) has appointed Mrs Manal Mashkoor as Head of the Centre for Insurance. She was previously the acting head of insurance between December 2015 and April 2016.
 
   Mrs Mashkoor joined BIBF in 2008 after spending three years at the Arab Insurance Group (Arig) as a systems developer under its graduate management programme.
 
   She has completed the DePaul University’s Master of Science Degree in Human Resources (MSHR); the Advanced Diploma of the Chartered Insurance Institute (ACII); and LOMA USA’s Diplomate, Life and Health Insurance (DLHI). She was also the first Bahraini female to earn the elite Fellowship of the Chartered Insurance Institute (FCII).
 
   She has conducted insurance training across the MENA region and seeks to further develop knowledge in the insurance-related areas of principle-based regulation, corporate governance, consumer education and the sustainability of takaful. 
 
   In 2015, the Ministry of Labour presented Mrs Mashkoor with the “Best Trainer Award” at their 7th Annual Ceremony for Training.
 
 
Egypt: Federation has new Vice Chairman
The Insurance Federation of Egypt (IFE) has elected Mr Said Gabr, Managing Director of Suez Canal Insurance Life has been elected as Vice Chairman following the resignation of Professor Mohamed Ghazy from his position, Managing Director of Misr Life. Mr Abd El-Raouf Kotb remains as Chairman. 
 
 
Oman: OIA elects new board
The Oman Insurance Association (OIA) has elected a new board of directors. 
 
   Mr Sayyid Nassir Al Busaidi, Oman United Insurance Company, is the new Chairman of OIA; while Mr Lloyd East of RSA Middle East and Mr Rawny Khadr of Dhofar Insurance are the Deputy Chairmen. 
 
   Mr A R Srinivasan, Falcon Insurance, is the Treasurer and Mr Adil Al Lawati of Al Futtaim, is the Secretary of OIA. Other members of the Board include Mr Hasan Al Lawati of Marsh and Mr P K Mohan of RMS.
 
 
UAE: EIA elects new board
Emirates Insurance Association (EIA) has elected a board of directors for the 2016-2018 term.
 
   Mr Khaled Mohd Al Badi, Deputy Chairman of Al Ain Ahlia Insurance, is now Chairman of the board, while Mr Saleh Al Hashimi, Managing Director of Dar Al Takaful, is now Vice Chairman.
 
   Other board members include Messrs Mohsen Hamad Al Marri, Elias Dahdal, Moh’d Bin Abdullah Al Falasi, Suhail Al Dhahiri, Shukri Salem Al Mehairi, Saeed Majid Al Mansouri, George Chidiac, Moh’d Ibrahim Abdel Moati, Moh’d Nidal El Sayed, George Ashkar, George Kabban and Gaku Murai.
 
 
UAE: SALAMA appoints COO
Islamic Arab Insurance Co (SALAMA) has appointed Mr Parvaiz Siddiq, formerly CEO of Dubai-based Noor Takaful, as COO since 15 February.  
 
   Mr Siddiq has more than 20 years’ of experience in the insurance industry in the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Pakistan. Before joining Noor Takaful, he was General Manager of SALAMA for eight years. He started his insurance career in 1983 with Adamjee Insurance, the largest insurance company in Pakistan. 
 
 
UAE: ADNIC gets new board
Abu Dhabi National Insurance Company’s (ADNIC’s) General Assembly has elected nine new members to its board of directors. 
 
   Shaikh Mohamed Bin Saif Al-Nahyan has been elected as the new Chairman of the board and Shaikh Theyab Bin Tahnoon Al-Nahyan as the Vice Chairman.
 
   Others board members include HE Sultan Rashed Al-Dhaheri, Mr Abdulla Khalaf Al-Otaiba, Mr Omar Liaqat, Mr Jamal Sultan Al-Hameli, Mr Abdulrahman Hamad Al-Mubarak, Mr Hazzaa Mohamed Al-Mheiri and Mr Humooda Ghanim Al-Dhaheri
