Takaful News - UAE: Takaful Emarat offers mandatory insurance for Dubai residency visas

Source: Middle East Insurance Review | May 2016

Takaful Emarat is offering mandatory insurance for Dubai Residency issuance and renewal. The insurance is for individuals and specifically tailored for spouses, domestic/basic workers and dependents with residential visas in Dubai, and is in line with the continued rollout of the Dubai Health Authority’s (DHA’s) mandatory health insurance scheme, which requires all Dubai visa holders to have access to medical insurance by 30 June 2016.

The mandatory insurance provides visa sponsors with an affordable scheme which meets the DHA’s Essential Benefits Plan requirements for employees earning AED4,000 (US$1,000) or less per month, as well as domestic workers such as housemaids, drivers, cooks, nannies and gardeners. It is also suitable for dependents of visa holders, including children, spouses and parents.

Takaful Emarat is one of the only two takaful providers qualified as Participating Insurers by the DHA to provide mandatory health insurance for this category, in addition to another seven conventional insurance providers in Dubai. The introduction of the mandatory insurance to spouses, domestic workers and dependents builds on the Essential Benefits Plan which was launched in 2014.

This solution provides applicants with a hassle-free online application process through the Takaful Emarat’s website.
