The Qatar Central Bank, the Traffic Authority and local insurers are working to implement an electronic database of drivers’ records. The system is expected to be fully implemented by the end of this year or the beginning of next year.
The electronic system is expected to decrease the number of traffic accidents and help ensure traffic safety. It will have a comprehensive database on the insured and their traffic history, reported the Al Sharq newspaper.
The Central Bank will start holding meetings in May with the other parties to discuss installing electronic links between the Traffic Authority and the insurers and the establishment of the database. The discussions are expected to last until next September.
