Oman Database launched ahead of start of mandatory health insurance scheme

23 Oct 2019

The Omani Capital Market Authority (CMA) has launched a database for health insurance in preparation for implementation of the nationwide insurance scheme for private sector employees, residents of Oman and visitors.

The health insurance database contains data of private sector companies, employees, number of private health institutions, specialised clinics, the location and geographic spread in the various wilayats, and the data on insurance companies and health insurance indices in Oman, reported Times of Oman.

The platform is part of the electronic linkage system between insurance companies, health institutions, insurance claim management companies TPA, and supervisory institutions. The platform will help decision makers and policy makers, provide accurate market data and enable investors to prepare feasibility studies.

Dhamani — the mandatory insurance scheme run under the guidance of the CMA — is scheduled to start operations next year.
