Global economic losses caused by climate change have spiked by 250% in the last three decades, putting pressure on the insurance industry. The global protection gap could reach $1.86tn by 2025, with the Asia Pacific region accounting for almost half of all uninsured risk. 

Understanding the impacts of climate change has become a top priority and future-focused insurers will need to embed climate risk mitigation strategies into their operating and business models.  Climate change could spark the next catastrophic wave of pandemics and Asia will face an increasingly complex set of overlapping crises.
