A Message from the Editor

With a 16-year track record of being the voice of the insurance industry of Asia, we have successfully launched MiddleEast Insurance Review (MIR), which is actively engaged in promoting the takaful movement around the world. MIR has already been named media partner for major events in the MENA region including the FAIR Conference in Marrakesh in October, the Middle East Insurance Forum and the World Takaful Conference just to name a few. And on our own, we will host the MENA CEO Insurance Summit in Amman and the Global MiddleEast Insurance Summit in London in September.

MIR is unique. It is the region’s only comprehensive professional journal serving the information needs of insurance practitioners in the Middle East in particular, and the rest of the world in general, drawing from the experiences and expertise of the regional and global insurance markets.

MIR covers a full spectrum of not just the news within the insurance sector, but zero in on the people and technical, strategic, underwriting and management issues of vital importance to the development of the region’s insurance industry. It will take readers beyond the headlines by delving into industry developments and analysing them in the Middle East context.

MIR aims to meets the information needs of the insurance practitioners in the Middle East in particular, and the rest of the world in general, and boost the image and profile of US$15 billion market internationally. MIR will provide that vital two-way flow of information within the MENA Markets, between Middle East and East Asia and between Middle East and the developed markets including US, Europe, and Bermuda.

We aim to contribute to the industry’s march towards higher standards and greater professionalism by making people more aware of trends and developments within the industry in both life and general insurance and reinsurance, while trying to distill the principles and essence of the business that is in harmony with the cultures and religious dictates. Hence, our conscious focus is to include world takaful developments as an integral part of our coverage.

Our vision is to continue giving the Middle East insurance industry a comprehensive and highly respected trade journal it can be proud of.
