What agents' awards winners say: Ms Jessica Mok Nga Ching

07 Mar 2017

Ms Jessica Mok Nga Ching of AIA Hong Kong, the 1st Asia Trusted Life Agents & Advisers Awards' Rookie Insurance Agent of the Year laureate in 2016, shares her journey as an agent in this contribution, "An End to a Means":

An End to a Means.

No, it's not a typo.

How do you enjoy Monday morning? I hardly ever, because Mondays are for regular meetings to review targets and evaluate how close I was.

Especially for a newbie like me, more often than not, it's time to face the music.

But the journey to the 1st Asia Trusted Life Agents and Advisers Awards brought about transformations to me. Significant ones.

I started to put together not only what achievements I was humbled by, but what breakthroughs I mastered, and what breakdowns I favoured.  In reviewing the journey, I got to discover many more answers to questions on "why" and "what".  Why did I switch from the glamorous TV industry? What motivated me to burn the midnight oil or walk that extra mile?

While the award was a great honour for me, the journey was what made the difference in me.

It reminded me of the journey behind every Monday morning. The opportunity to help yet another individual, bring protection to who's most needed and safeguard the wealth when it is most needed.  The target is just an end to a means.

Now I am having my own team, but to be honest, I still hardly ever enjoy Monday morning. But at the same time it doesn't matter, because it's the means, the journey, the opportunity to be a part of someone else's life that really matter, and makes all the differences.

Are you still thinking if you should enter this year's award? Perhaps it will be an end to the means that would be most valuable to you.

See you on stage and in the journey.
