India:Insurers stop accepting large denomination rupee notes

Cash counters at insurance companies, including those of Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC), stopped accepting INR1,000 (US$14.80) and INR500 currency bills immediately after the government declared them non-legal tender last week.
