Jordan:Life insurance premiums increase by 13% in 2017

Life insurance premiums in Jordan reached JOD79.8m ($112.4m) in 2017, a 13.1% growth compared to JOD70.6m written in 2016.

The life premiums in 2017 represented 13.4% of total written premiums, reports Al Ghad, citing data from the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Supply.

The number of life insurance covered lives reached 2.3m in 2017 compared to 1.8m insured persons in 2016.

The proportion of premiums written for individual life insurance in 2017 compared to group insurance was 45% to 55% respectively.
