12th Asian Insurance CFO Summit 2018
Theme: “Transforming the CFO Risk Agenda – The New Wave”

The risk landscape is changing in the insurance world and it’s either evolve or dissolve. As CFOs scramble to come up to speed with the new revolution of digital, innovation and the millennial era, it is a survival game to keep on top of this new normal. New insurance accounting standards are also on the horizon, with IFRS 17 set to change the way the sector is administered. This summit will look at how the CFO risk agenda is changing and what CFOs can do to equip themselves in the future. 

10th General Insurance Conference 2018
31 May-1 June, Singapore
This will be the tenth conference focused on general insurance organised by the Singapore Actuarial Society, with over 100 actuaries and senior insurance executives from across Asia expected to attend. To celebrate this milestone, the theme for this year’s event will be a consideration of the next ten years. How will the industry, profession or products change over that time? What are the current trends that will shape the industry before we reach the 20th conference? 

16th Conference on Catastrophe Insurance in Asia
Theme: “Finding Smart Insurance Solutions to Cope with Extreme Weather as the New Norm”
7-8 June, Singapore
Extreme weather is the new norm and man’s influence on environment – Anthropocene - is undeniable. Last year, the industry suffered one of the highest Nat CAT insured losses of $135bn, the highest in almost 40 years. APAC, home to two-thirds of the world’s poor will experience the brunt of this threat if unmitigated. All eyes are again on the insurance industry and public-private partnerships to respond to these risks with sustainable, smart, solutions. This must attend conference will focus on managing risks from pricing and accessibility to loss prevention and risk mitigation. 

Insurance Summit on Belt and Road Initiative
Theme: “Getting Ready for a New Risk Landscape: An Insurance Dream”
12-13 June, Singapore
The opportunities arising out of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) are tremendous for all. Comprising the land-based “Silk Road Economic Belt” and the ocean-going “Maritime Silk Road”, BRI projects outside of China will generate an estimated $28bn in commercial insurance premiums in the years to 2030, including engineering, marine and property. This two-day summit will look at how the insurance landscape can capitalise on these growth opportunities, be it through new partnerships, strategic alliances or industry-wide pools and cooperation. HSBC Holdings group chairman Mark Tucker is the keynote speaker.

32nd General Conference of the General Arab Insurance Federation (GAIF)
Theme: “Digital Transformation and the Insurance Industry in the Arab World”
24-27 June, Hammamet, Tunisia
The rapid technological changes and “the Fourth Industrial Revolution” will change the ways to respond to the human environment by economic and financial actors, including insurance. Co-organised by GAIF and the Tunisian Federation of Insurance Companies (FTUSA) in coordination with Tunis Re, the 32nd GAIF General Conference will address digital technology and its challenges for the insurance industry. 

IIS Global Insurance Forum
8-11 July, Berlin, Germany

This premier global conference features prominent thought leaders sharing their views on key issues which will shape the future of the industry.

MARIM Conference 2018
Theme: “Innovative risk management”
17-18 July, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
The two-day conference features a range of Malaysia-based and overseas speakers, with a mix of corporate risk managers and also insurance industry senior management. The conference will be opened by Bank Negara Malaysia deputy governor Ms Jessica Chew and will feature exhibition booths on risk management and insurance services and tools, together with MARIM’s risk management team of the year award on day two.

7th Asia Life Insurance Summit
Theme: “Life Disrupted, Revived and Still Innovating. Keeping Customers at the Heart of the Business”
17-18 July, Jakarta, Indonesia
Asia is attractive for life insurance because its sizeable population remains underserved, in spite of the fact that income levels are rising. While digital has not quite beaten conventional product distribution, it continues to evolve at a frenetic pace. This biennial summit looks how to make distribution smart and nimble and create digital offerings to keep in tune with tech-savvy consumers. This is the conference that will help life insurance companies stay relevant and future-ready.

15th Singapore International Reinsurance Conference
Theme: “Reinsurance Reloaded”

The 15th SIRC is organised by Singapore Reinsurers’ Association in conjunction with the Reinsurance Brokers’ Association of Singapore, with Asia Insurance Review as the official media partner. Held at the Sands Expo and Convention Centre at the iconic Marina Bay Sands, it will provide high level keynote speeches, networking and cooperation opportunities, with the Lloyd’s Coffee House acting as the integral core of the event where all interested parties meet under one roof. 

3rd ASEAN Insurance Summit
28 November, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
A world of customer experiences, data-based services and asset performance through analytics in insurance requires new forms of collaboration, particularly given the speed at which innovation and disruption are taking place.
