The Saudi Authority for Accredited Valuers (Taqeem) has started to receive requests from investors to establish and operate accident damage assessment centres in line with the authorities’ plan to privatise vehicle accident damage assessment services and to involve the private sector in the establishment and operation of these centres.
Taqeem’s spokesman Saleh Al-Zuwaid said the compensation process for those affected has been accelerated under the system, reported Aleqt.
This is because the system is completely electronic, and has been linked with Najm Company, valuers, insurers, workshops and spare-parts suppliers, allowing users to complete the process at one stop.
Najm provides a platform to simplify and resolve accident related procedures and formalities.
The new centres are equipped with the most modern devices. Repairs and replacement parts are selected electronically. The centres can deal with all types and sizes of cars easily, Mr Al-Zuwaid had said previously. The new process will reduce the time and effort spent by accident estimators working at these centres, who estimate the damages, including the costs of spare parts and repair work.
The details of the assessment process will immediately be sent electronically to the insurance company and the relevant authorities for the completion of the procedures, particularly for the payment of compensation.
In 2016, Taqeem launched the accident evaluation system in Arouba, Riyadh, in cooperation with the Saudi Arabian Monetary Authority and the Traffic Department. In 2017, the centres received more than 230,000 damaged vehicles in Riyadh.
Mr Al-Zuwaid said Taqeem has held training courses attended by 155 trainees in Riyadh and Jeddah as a first stage. It is currently coordinating with the relevant authorities to start the transfer of the experiment and implement the system in the western and eastern regions this year.
SAMA has issued directives to all insurers operating in the Kingdom to connect with the automated system and to accept estimates issued by the system as final. M
