AIG launches cyber cover in Uganda

Source: Middle East Insurance Review | Sep 2015

AIG has reportedly become the first company to launch insurance cover for cyber-related crimes in Uganda. The product, Cyber Edge, provides cover for data liability, administrative expenses, reputation and response costs, multimedia liability, cyber extortion and business interruption costs.
“Cyber exposures are one of the most prominent risk concerns on a business’ radar and in a digital age this trend is set to continue. The threat represented by cyber risks is now as tangible as physical threats to a company’s assets and has serious knock-on effects. It is this kind of chain reaction that Cyber Edge has been designed to help counteract,” Ms Anna Othieno, Managing Director of AIG Uganda, was quoted in media reports as saying.
