Jordan: Premiums up 7% to US$281 mln in Jan-April

Total premiums in Jordan increased by 7% to JOD199.3 million (US$281.2 million) during the first four months of 2015 compared with the same period last year, according to preliminary data released by the Insurance Department of the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
General insurance premiums rose by 5.5% to JOD177.2 million for the January to April period, while life premiums grew 14.4% to reach JOD22.1 million during the same period, reported the Tomorrow newspaper.
Claims paid rose by 1.4% to JOD112.5 million for the first four months of this year.
