MICC: Two new members bring total to 21

As part of its expansion drive, the MICC has welcomed Mr Christos Adamantiadis, CEO of Oman Insurance Company (OIC) and Mr Andrew Smith, CEO of Ras Al Khaimah National Insurance Company as members, bringing the total to 21. 
   Mr Adamantiadis, who took over from Mr Patrick Choffel in OIC, comes with a long career in AIG where most latterly he was Managing Director, Eastern Zone and Regional Director, Footprint Strategy in AIG, London. Over his 20-odd years in AIG, he has held several senior leadership roles, including Managing Director, Arabia and North Africa.
   Mr Smith has significant experience in conventional and Islamic insurance across the UK and Middle East, and has a proven track record of developing business plans and building sustainable businesses across the Middle East. His experience spans all areas of an organisation, including customer care, fiscal management, market development, technical development, and emerging markets.
   Dr Bassel Hindawi, Steering Committee Member said: “With their rich experience in a variety of markets, we are confident that Mr Adamantiadis and Mr Smith will be able to contribute meaningfully towards the Club’s mission of serving as a think tank to shape and spearhead the future development of the regional insurance industry.”
 
Progressive think tank
The MICC was set up in 2010 as a think-tank of the insurance industry of the Middle East region. With membership by invitation only, the Club is led by a Steering Committee consisting of Dr Hindawi, immediate past Insurance Commissioner of Jordan; Mr Yassir Albaharna, CEO of Arig; and Mr Sivam Subramaniam, Editor-in-Chief of Middle East Insurance Review and Asia Insurance Review.
