Ed appoints CEO of MENA and Indian business
Ed, the global reinsurance, wholesale and specialty broker, has named Mr Minesh Jani as Chief Executive of MENA, India and Indian sub-continent. 
 
   Mr Jani brings more than two decades of reinsurance experience to Ed. He joins from Aashvaasanam Analytics Limited in Mumbai, a business which he founded to support the launch and build of an international reinsurance business. 
 
   Prior to this, he led the treaty reinsurance business in India for the Willis Group with its local partners AlmondzBrokers. He had also served as manager of the reinsurance division of ICICI Lombard 

 
Zurich International names new head
Mr Peter Huber has been appointed as CEO of Zurich International Life and will report to Mr Patrick Manley, CEO, Zurich Insurance & Chief Administrative Officer for Europe, Middle East & Africa (EMEA).
 
   Based in Isle of Man, he will lead Zurich’s overall international business which brings together the current international life businesses in the Isle of Man, Middle East and Zurich International Corporate Solutions (including Zurich Eurolife based in Luxembourg), creating a simpler, more market and customer-orientated organisation. 
 
   Mr Huber joined Zurich in July 2013 as CEO Zurich Life Singapore. Since August 2015, he has been working as CEO for Zurich Topas Life Indonesia. 
 
   Bringing with him more than 20 years of industry experience, he joined Zurich from Swiss Re, where he was Managing Director in the Reinsurance division based in Switzerland. 
 
   Prior to that, he was Regional General Manager, Life & Health, Allianz Asia-Pacific, based in Singapore. He started his career in business consulting with Arthur Andersen and then spent 10 years with Swiss Life in various roles. 

 
Marsh appoints President of International Division 
Marsh has appointed Mr Flavio Piccolomini as President of Marsh International, which is part of the company’s newly announced global management structure and comprises operations in Africa, Asia, Continental Europe, Latin America & the Caribbean, Middle East and North Africa, Pacific, and UK & Ireland. 
 
   He will report to Mr John Doyle, President and CEO of Marsh.
 
   In this role, Mr Piccolomini will serve on Marsh’s Executive Committee and will be based in London. 
 
   Previously CEO of Marsh Continental Europe, he will continue to lead Continental Europe on an interim basis.
 
   In addition to continuing in his roles as Chairman and CEO of Marsh SpA and Chairman of Marsh Sigorta ve Reasurans Brokerligi AS, Mr Piccolomini holds numerous board positions: with Mercer Italia SpA, Marsh SA Mediadores de Seguros, Marsh Insurance Brokers Limited and Marsh & McLennan Companies Services BV.
 
   Mr Piccolomini, whose career spans more than 28 years in insurance brokerage and risk advisory, spent 20 years at Willis, before joining Marsh Italy as CEO in 2009. 
 
   He began his career in London, where spent 16 years and developed Willis’ business in Southern Europe and Latin America, and was in charge of the firm’s financial institutions, professional risks, and mergers and acquisitions businesses globally. He also spent four years as CEO for Willis’ Continental Europe region.

 
NexAssure appoints Head of Specialty for Europe and Middle East
NexAssure Group is set to open a specialist managing general agent, NexAssure Agency (UK) Limited in London and has appointed Mr Mark Angel as Head of Speciality to lead the company’s expansion into Europe and Middle East.
 
   Mr Angel, a highly regarded warranty underwriter with over 28 years’ experience working across global markets, joins the NexAssure London office from WhiteOak Underwriting Agency where he was Chief Underwriter.
 
   Over his career, he has been product underwriting manager handling various teams of underwriters, technical claims and analysts as well as a prominent lead underwriter in the extended warranty field since 1989, writing for both Lloyd’s syndicates and company markets. 
 
   Independently owned NexAssure Group, headquartered in Singapore with offices in London, Hong Kong and Kuala Lumpur, provides warranty, financial and speciality reinsurance through NexAssure Agency and third-party administration services through NexAssure Management. 

 
Malaysia: New CEO at Etiqa Takaful
Etiqa Takaful Bhd has appointed Mr Zafri Ab Halim as its new CEO, effective 1 September 2017. 
 
   Reporting directly to Maybank Ageas Holdings Bhd CEO Kamaludin Ahmad, he is responsible for driving the takaful business and overseeing the performance of Etiqa Takaful in Malaysia. 
 
   Mr Zafri joined Etiqa from Great Eastern Takaful Bhd, where he served as CEO. 
 
   Prior to that, he headed the finance and corporate services division which included financial accounting, investment, management information system, and general administration in Bank Aljazira, Saudi Arabia.

 
UAE: ADNIC boosts senior leadership with new appointment for information technology 
Abu Dhabi National Insurance Company (ADNIC) has appointed Mr Hany Baher as Senior Vice President – Information Technology to drive technology and innovation at the firm. 
 
   With more than 24 years of experience in the IT sector, of which 20 years have been in the UAE insurance industry, he has in-depth industry knowledge as well as operational business insight. 
 
   In his new role, he will develop ADNIC’s technology offering and explore new avenues to further enhance the company’s innovative drive. 
 
   Mr Baher joined ADNIC from Union Insurance Company in Dubai, where he held the position of IT Consultant and Head of Program Management Office (PMO). He was responsible for setting up a new business unit for the PMO and executed the firm’s IT strategy. 
 
   Prior to this, he held senior management positions at EgyMatic and Oman Insurance Company, where he was Vice President – Enterprise Architect and VP – Director of Applications. 

 
UAE: Cunningham Lindsey Middle East promotes Dubai Country Manager from within
Cunningham Lindsey has appointed Mr Ian Jones as its new Country Manager in Dubai. 
 
   He replaces Mr David Summers, who remains with the global loss adjustors and will continue to have involvement with losses in the Middle East but from the UK. 
 
   Mr Jones, who was previously Technical Director and has extensive experience of the UAE market, has spent 30 years within the claims sector and has worked across many roles including Major & Complex Loss and Client Relationship Management. He is a multi-disciplined adjuster and has claims handling experience in property and business interruption, oil & gas, high net worth and in the hospitality sector.
